Today on 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One vehicle wiring harness for factory tow package, with a 4-pole flat trailer connector. That's gonna be part number 118277. So here's what our wiring is gonna look like once we have it installed. It is gonna provide us with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, and give us all the signals we need to get safely down the road, like our turn signals, tail lights, and stop lights. Now our wiring is designed to stay on the inside of the vehicle until we're ready to use it. Then once we do, we can drop it out the rear hatch.

Stay away from the latch mechanism itself, and just drop it down so we can hook up our trailer. The weather stripping here is gonna give it enough cushion to where it won't damage the wire when we close our tailgate. But when we're done towing and we want to store it, we can store it right here underneath this compartment, out of the way. Our wiring is gonna be custom designed for our Mitsubishi. We're gonna have a connector behind this panel that it's gonna plug directly into. It's gonna give us all the signals we need back here.

It's gonna have a power converter box behind here that's gonna take all the signals from our vehicle, and transfer them to the connector for a working signal for our trailer. It's also gonna protect our vehicle, making sure if there is any problems on the trailer end, it's not gonna back feed and cause any problems to our electrical system. Now our wiring harness is gonna come with everything you need to get it installed, and it is gonna be a rather simple installation. Let's show you how to do that now.To begin your installation, we want to open up our hatch. We're gonna lift up the floor covering.

We'll pull this panel out and move it aside for right now. Now underneath, we'll have this plastic panel, and we'll have two screws that are holding it in place, one on each end. So we'll get a Phillip's bit and we'll pull those out. Grab our panel, and lift it up and out of the way. Now we're gonna need to remove the threshold panel here, so we want to grab it on the bottom, and we'll lift up.

That'll release the clips. We're just gonna go along the edge until we can get the whole panel out. We'll set this aside. Now we're gonna need to get behind this panel on the driver side. We're gonna have one screw where our two panels meet each other at the back here. If we come down, we'll have our tie-down hook where there's gonna be another screw. Then finally, on the bottom we'll have one that's going into the floorboard. Again, we'll take our Phillip's screw bit and we'll pull 'em out. We'll take our panel, and if you can, you can just grab it by hand and start pulling it away. But you can also use a plastic trim panel tool. We're gonna go along the edge here, releasing the clips. Now in behind the panel if we come, we'll find a plug that's gonna be tapped to another hardness that's gonna be open. You're gonna want to cut the tape. But be careful not to cut any of the wires on any of the other parts. Remove the tape off the plug, and that's gonna match up to the harness for our wiring. We can go ahead and plug that in. Make sure it locks into place. Then we'll have another wire that's coming off of there. It's gonna be a white wire with a ring terminal on it. This is gonna need to go to a ground. Fortunately we have an existing ground back here that we can just loosen up the bolt, and slide our ground wire in place. Grab a 10mm socket, and we'll pull that out.You want to make sure you get all your other grounds back in place. We'll slide our bolt through our eyelet on our white wire, making sure we put all the other grounds back. Then we can replace that bolt. Now we're gonna need to find a spot to mount our converter box here. They do provide us with some double sided foam tape, so we'll remove the backing off of one side. We can put it directly on the back of our converter box. Just want to press on it to make sure it sticks well. Then remove the backing off the other side. We'll just stick this against the body where it's gonna be out of the way. We can actually just bring it back a little bit, and go right against this flat spot right here. You want to make sure you route your 4-pole wire towards the middle of the cargo area. We can put our panels back in place. We can start putting all the hardware back in as well. We can store our 4-pole right here in the cargo area when we're not using it. Now our harness is gonna be two pieces, so we're gonna have another section that we're gonna plug in underneath the
