to console the dying, heal the living and foster unity in the world by asking God to heal what is divided in our own hearts.

We keep vigil with those who have passed away - however long ago.
We anticipate our own future hour of passing - however near or far.
In doing this we can exchange fear of death with a growing joyful expectation of life everlasting.
