Then it’s time to wash and mill them into a nice mash, using a setup I’ve tweaked from last year’s attempt. I’ll show you how to use a 20-ton press (fingers crossed it doesn’t break again!) and explain why taking it slow is key.

As the golden liquid starts flowing, I’ll share a few mistakes I’ve made in the past—like skipping proper prep on pressing mats, which gave my oil a funky “mat smell” last year. There’s also a bit about separating the oil from water using a homemade gadget—it’s simple but does the job nicely.
