Heather sat at a small round table in a cozy coffee shop, staring down at her latte as if it held the key to all her unanswered questions. Her business suit was crisp and professional, but she couldn't help feeling a bit out of place in this informal setting. Across from her sat Tracy, her younger, more free-spirited friend, who was sipping her iced coffee and watching Heather closely.

"So, how do you know if someone is lying to you?" Heather asked, her voice betraying a hint of concern. She wasn’t talking about a simple white lie, but something deeper, something that gnawed at her every time she tried to have an honest conversation with Kevin.

Tracy leaned back in her chair and raised an eyebrow. "Increased heart rate, sweat on the brow, avoiding eye contact... Why do you ask?"

Heather sighed, tapping her finger on her cup. "Well, when I talk to Kevin about money, he gets really weird, like he's hiding something."

Tracy’s eyes widened. "Like what?"

"I don't know," Heather muttered, glancing around as if the answer might be sitting at the next table. "I was surprised his show got commissioned. A family killing each other every week? That's a bit much, especially for the BBC."

Tracy nodded, clearly intrigued. "And you never got the part about what happens after they kill each other? Do they bring in a new family every episode?"

Heather shrugged. "That’s what I want to know. I can’t shake the feeling that something's off about it."

Tracy leaned forward, clearly enjoying the drama of it all. "Why don't you visit the studios and see for yourself?"

Heather recoiled a little. "I can't just show up unannounced. What if I'm all wrong about this? What if I make a fool of myself?"

Tracy gave her a sly grin. "Then make up an excuse. Tell him you just wanted to take him out to lunch. At least then you’ll know for sure."

Heather hesitated but then smiled. "You know, for someone in their twenties, you're actually pretty wise."

Tracy shrugged modestly. "They say you're only as wise as the people you hang out with."

The two of them locked eyes for a moment before Tracy suddenly reached across the table and took Heather's hands in her own. Heather quickly pulled back, her face flushing slightly.

"Don’t take this the wrong way," Heather said, her voice low, "but do you... like me?"

Tracy didn’t flinch. "Of course, we're good friends, right?"

Heather gave her a skeptical look, her eyes narrowing. "You know what I mean."

Tracy looked away for a moment, her expression softening. "I'd be lying if I said I didn’t have a tiny crush on you."

Heather’s face went pale, and she shook her head. "I'm engaged, Tracy. I'm straight. And, in case you didn’t notice, there’s a bit of an age gap."

Tracy raised her hands in mock surrender. "I know, I know. But, hey, if Kevin's not telling you the truth, do you really want to spend the rest of your life with him?"

Heather bit her lip, unsure how to answer. "Well..."

Tracy pressed on, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Have you ever been with a woman before?"

Heather blushed, looking uncomfortable. "I kissed a girl in college once."

"And?" Tracy asked, her tone encouraging.

Heather sighed, as if the memory were from a lifetime ago. "It wasn’t bad. A lot softer than a guy."

Tracy chuckled. "There’s guys in their twenties dating women in their fifties, and eighty-year-old men are having kids with women in their thirties. Age isn’t the barrier it used to be. You can be with whoever you want."

In the world of B-Movie comedy feature films, things rarely went according to plan. Heather wasn’t entirely sure what kind of movie Kevin was making, but something about it didn’t sit right with her. Maybe it was the absurd premise of a family constantly killing each other. Or maybe it was the sneaky way Kevin had been acting. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that there were things Kevin wasn’t telling her, and she wasn’t sure she liked what that might mean.

And then, there was Tracy, with her cryptic advice about age and love. Heather was still processing the strange, yet strangely flattering, moment where Tracy confessed to her tiny crush. It had left her feeling a little confused but oddly curious.

At the end of the day, Heather was caught between two worlds: one that was too safe and predictable, and another that was a bit too wild and full of surprises. Was she really ready to step into the world of the B-Movie comedy feature film, where rules were made to be broken, and where nothing was ever as it seemed?

Heather wasn’t sure, but one thing was for certain—life had just gotten a lot more interesting. And perhaps, just perhaps, she was ready for her own B-Movie adventure.
