Meet CA27C, a large male orca who was traveling with his mother, CA27, and several others from their family. He is the largest of the group with about a 6-foot dorsal fin and we also saw a second pod that was tagging along with them. This pod is rarely seen and not a lot is known about them, probably because they spend much of their time very far from shore like where we encountered them by the farthest of the Channel Islands. Thanks to CA Killer Whale Project for the ID’s and documenting these awesome animals.⁣
