Sehr geehrte Vertreter der Botschaft der Europäischen Union in Kairo,
Ich ging für eine fünftägige Touristenreise nach Kairo. Bei meiner Rückkehr nach Zürich, Schweiz, am Donnerstag, den 16. Mai 2024, mit einem Flug der Swiss Airlines, geschah mir folgendes am Flughafen Kairo:
Ich kam am Flughafen an und hatte 10.000 Euro bei mir.
Die Polizei forderte mich auf, nur 9.000 Euro bei der Ausreise aus Ägypten mitzunehmen.
Ich kontaktierte meinen Freund in Kairo und gab ihm 1.000 Euro zur Aufbewahrung.
Ich ging mit 9.000 Euro zum Flughafen Kairo.
Ein Beamter des Innenministeriums am Flughafen forderte mich auf, das Geld zu zählen.
Ich bat ihn, das Geld mit mir zusammen zu zählen.
Er sagte, dass einer der Mitarbeiter mich zu einer Geldzählmaschine bringen würde, die 15 Meter entfernt war.
Ich ging mit diesem Polizeibeamten zum Zählbüro.
Ich stand vor dem Zählbüro und wartete. Dann gaben sie mir einen Geldstapel und sagten, dass der Betrag stimmt.
Ich dachte, alles sei in Ordnung, weil ich bei der Polizei war und das Geld, das sie mir gaben, in Ordnung schien.
Als ich wenige Stunden später nach Hause nach Zürich zurückkehrte, bemerkte ich, dass der Geldstapel an einem Ende 150 Euro (100 Euro + 50 Euro) und am anderen Ende 100 Euro (2 x 50 Euro) enthielt, und dazwischen ägyptische Fünf-Pfund-Scheine ohne Wert waren.
Der Geldbetrag, den ich trug, betrug 8.000 Euro in 50-Euro-Scheinen + 1.000 Euro in 100-Euro-Scheinen.
Ich wurde also am Flughafen Kairo beraubt.
Einer der Anwälte ging zur Polizei, um Anzeige zu erstatten, aber die Polizei kooperierte nicht und gab uns keine Fallnummer.
Ich postete den Vorfall auf TikTok und YouTube.
Die Flughafenpolizei antwortete, indem sie Videos von mir am Flughafen veröffentlichte, aber kein Video vom Geldzählen, um die Leute in die Irre zu führen.
Da ich finnischer Staatsbürger bin, bitte ich um Ihre Hilfe und Unterstützung.
Ich bitte Sie auch, die Finnen vor Reisen nach Ägypten zu warnen.

I went to Cairo for a five-day tourist trip. Upon my return to Zurich, Switzerland, on Thursday, May 16, 2024, on a Swiss Airlines flight, the following happened to me at Cairo airport:

When I returned home to Zurich a few hours later, I noticed that the pile of money contained 150 euros (100 euros + 50 euros) on one end and 100 euros (2 x 50 euros) on the other end, with Egyptian five-pound notes of no value inside.
The amount of money I was carrying was 8,000 euros in 50-euro notes + 1,000 euros in 100-euro notes.
So, I was robbed at Cairo airport.
One of the lawyers went to report to the police, but the police did not cooperate and did not give us a case number.
I posted the incident on TikTok and YouTube.
The airport police responded by posting videos of me at the airport but did not post a video of the money counting to mislead people.
As I am a Finnish citizen, I am asking for your help and support.
I also ask you to warn Finns against traveling to Egypt.
