If you have gone through a breast augmentation surgery, you might wonder how soon you can be able to exercise after surgery. When a breast implant is inserted, it is placed either above or below the pectoralis major muscle. When it comes to returning to exercise post-surgery, the location of the implant is very important. When an implant is placed below the muscle, the muscle of the chest is detached from its insertion at the inferior border of the chest. The pectoralis major tends to retract significantly after it is detached from the lower portion of the breast. If you perform cardio, weight training, or any form of exercise before the advised period, this results in longer recovery time for the implant under the muscle to heal. Both your endurance and performance during exercise will suffer if you put your pectoralis major muscle under strain so soon after a breast augmentation surgery. Nevertheless, with enough recovery time, you should be able to return to exercising normally.
