Large bowl holds plenty of lather. When filled with hot water the scuttle keeps the lather warm for a long time. The small cork stopper fits nicely. Now that I’ve used a scuttle I cannot imagine going back to shaving with cold lather, as I used to.
Whipping up lather and reapplying it for each pass adds time to each morning’s shave, but the comfort of hot lather makes it worthwhile.
I love the size of this mug. I read many of the negative reviews and they seem to universally hate the rubber stopper. So I was concerned, but read that people found corks for under a dollar at their local hardware stores.
These idiots are crazy! I don’t understand how anyone pushes the stopper in. I even filled the inside of the mug with water and the stopper does not fall in or “pop out” as other have stated.
The point of the stopper is to prevent cold air from cooling off the hot water; it’s not meant to sit flush on the mug. Even the manufacturer’s photos are misleading.
The only negative is that the mug was a little dusty (see attached photo), but I live in a desert and I was going to clean the mug prior to use since it will be used for a product that will be applied to my face.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied and would highly recommended this product especially given the price.
Started looking at getting a scuttle and most of the ones I found were expensive. This one was priced right. I have used it several times and can understand why others have said that once you use one you will be hooked.
This scuttle keeps the lather warm for quite a while and is well made, highly recommended
This review is going to be long but if you want to know about my experience please read below. TL:DR Using a shaving scuttle is worth it. It does make a difference when shaving.
