On my journey to archive games there are certain gems and forgotten titles that deserve to be preserved and not lost to time. Asura's Wrath is definitely one of those titles. It is a very unique game, but flopped really hard and only came out on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and is therefore pretty hard to get nowadays.
Luckily I was able to find a copy and finally experience this game for myself. Though the game plays more like a movie than a game, the amount of epic things happening on screen have never been reproduced in any other video game. Fighting monsters that are the size of entire planets is only one of them.
The game offers multiple gameplay mechanics including quick time events, on rails sections where you get to shoot at enemies and finally beat 'em up stages where you get to combat various bosses and minions. This pretty much always plays out the same way in that you are performing combos to the point where your gauge fills completely in order to do a finisher. You do this over and over and over again to the point where it becomes very repetitive, but the story and cutscenes are so over the top that it is worth it.
Unfortunately the company that published it was pretty crappy back then and actually wanted the buyer to pay for extra DLC to get the true ending. Something that was very looked down upon and rightfully so. They also made it pretty difficult for me to actually make this video as you will clearly see while watching it so this is definitely a relic of when Capcom was not as great as it is now.
