From January to November of 1985, Van Johnson returned to the Broadway stage to play Georges in La Cage Aux Folles, which had been originated by Gene Barry in 1983. Mr Johnson had made his Broadway debut 46 years prior, in 1939, in Too Many Girls, followed by Pal Joey in 1940, before leaving for Hollywood.
First seen is an appearance on the program The Prime of Your Life, followed by another interview, both to promote the show.
