Today on our pontoon boat trailer, we're going to be installing the Optronix Miro-Flex waterproof rectangular stop, turn, and tail light with a license plate light as well, for the left hand side or driver side of your trailer. Part number STL27RB. Now, because our trailer already has a ground wire that runs to the front, I'm going to go ahead and trim off the ring terminal that comes with our new light, because we'll be making our connection with the ground, just using one of our heat-shrink style butt connectors. Go ahead and strip a little bit of wire back here on the ground wire. Go ahead and take the factory wiring, and you just strip some wire back on each of these three as well. Then, take our heat-shrink butt connectors. Put one on each of the wires, crimp it down. Go ahead and take our wires from the back side of the tail light, go ahead and connect those into the butt connector as well. Now, with all of our connections made, we can go ahead and use a heat gun to seal up these butt connectors.
If you don't have a heat gun, a cigarette lighter will work just as well. Just make sure that you keep the flame moving so that you don't burn the connector or the insulation on the wire, because you can easily damage it if you burn it. We're going to go ahead, now that our butt connectors have cooled off a little. Go ahead and take some electrical tape, tape them up to give them a little more protection. Next, we're going to need to figure out which of the 2 grooves we're going to need to use. Looks like it's going to be this one and this one.
Going to take our carriage bolt, slide it into position. We'll then go ahead and line up our wires over here on the side, go ahead and push our excess wires back up into the trailer. Go ahead and line up our two holes. We'll then put our black nut on the back side of each of the two bolts, and then take our ratchet and secure them down. Now that we have the light secure, let's go ahead and we'll plug our trailer on in, go ahead and test out everything, make sure all the functions are working properly. Go ahead and turn the tail lights on. As you can see here, the tail light comes on just fine.
You'll also notice that the license plate itself is illuminated by these couple lights on the bottom that we pointed out earlier. Here's what the brake light looks like. As you can see here, everything's working fine. Now, we'll go ahead and go through the blinker. With that, that'll conclude our installation of the Optronix Miro-Flex waterproof rectangular stop, turn, and tail light with license plate light for the left-hand side, part number STL27RB, as installed on our pontoon boat trailer. .
