Neil pays a visit to Hardknott Roman Fort, an epic archeological site on the western side of the Hardknott Pass in the English Lake District.

The fort was built between about 120 and 138 AD on a rocky spur with views over the River Esk in both upper and lower Eskdale. From its elevated vantage point, it not only protected the Hardknott Pass, but had stunning views of the Scafell range.
