Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today we're digging into the Boss SY-300 Synthesizer. Boss has been at the forefront of guitar synthesis technology, and the SY-300 is the first fully-polyphonic synthesizer pedal in their history that doesn't require a special pickup or outboard processor. The SY-300 is a powerful synthesizer that just happens to be a pedal, with three tunable oscillators for unreal synth harmonies that blur the line between strings and keys. The SY-300 gives you all the options of any synthesizer, such as extensive filter editing, LFO applications, and step sequencing, and 3 control switches on the unit let you adjust a variety of parameters on-the-fly along with an expression pedal. After sculpting your synth sounds, you can run the OSC through up to four different effects processors for more fine tuning and signal routing possibilities. As a bonus, when you mute the synth parts out completely, you can use the SY-300 as a multi-effect unit, applying the effects such as Delay, Reverb, Drive, Compression and various modulation to your dry guitar tone for extra versatility. Users can save up to 99 different patches to create an army of synthesizers, and Boss provides 70 patches that are ready to go out of the box. When connected via USB, the Boss Tone Studio editor software lets you create new sounds on your computer and upload them to the pedal for a finer degree of tinkering. The SY-300 also features a built-in tuner with a highly detailed LCD display for fast and accurate tuning, saving you valuable pedalboard real estate.
