When I mark IELTS essays, I often see people agree or disagree with themselves. This is a huge problem because it shows that they are not thinking logically. Either they lack basic thinking skills or they are just trying to repeat some sort of learned formula in their task 2 essays. Both of these would result in a poor score.

In this video, I will show you what this problem means and why it exists, and then give some suggestions for overcoming it. I’ll also chuck in a few sample introductions of my own, so that you can see how a good introduction could be written without paraphrasing.
