We wanted to spread awareness during Heart Awareness Month, February 2021. So, here are many more pictures this year. CHDs are abnormalities in the heart’s structure that are present at birth. Approximately 1 out of every 100 babies are born with a CHD. CHDs are the #1 birth defect in the world & the leading cause of infant death in the United States. The causes of most CHDs are unknown. Twice as many children die from CHDs than from all childhood cancers combined. CHD research is grossly underfunded. Thanks to medical advances through research, death rates in the past decade have declined by almost 30%. There is no cure for Congenital Heart Defects. There are treatments, but there is no cure. It is a lifelong disease. These children and adults were born with Congenital Heart Defects, some mild and some life threatening. They all wear the familiar zipper down their chest, even though many do not remember the actual surgery as infants, their families do. It is a storm that follows you and forces you to be stronger than you ever knew you could be. Thank you for watching our video again this year.
