Fun fact: Hydrangeas are well-loved for their lush, vibrant blooms, but what many don't realize is that the most colorful parts of their flowers aren't actually petals—they're sepals! Sepals are typically the green, leaf-like structures that protect the bud, but in hydrangeas, they steal the show by being large, vivid, and often beautifully colored, while the true flowers are small and less conspicuous at the center of each bloom cluster. In this video, I use the word petals for the sepals to make them less confusing, but the more you know!
