The island is 20 minutes away from Phi Phi island. Bamboo Island is uninhabited, tourists come there to spend time in complete tranquility without civilization. Locals said that during the 2004 tsunami the island was completely submerged for several hours. And on Phi Phi Island there are a lot of signs indicating the direction of evacuation during the tsunami.
