Kampa Air Pro Frontier Awning 2017

This video shows how the largest Kampa Air awning fits on a single axle Swift caravan.

While I was choosing which awning to buy, I only found videos and pictures showing the this awning on a twin axle caravan, which is longer than the more popular family size single axle caravans.

The Frontier awning fits in a large black bag which I haven't yet tried to push through the caravan door. Instead it has travelled in the car on the back seat. With a packed away weight of 45kgs it is probably better having it in the car to allow more holiday items to go in the caravan without going over the maximum permissible weight.

The Kampa hand pump that comes with the awning is a single stroke pump, which means that it pushes air out on the downward stroke only. Great for those who like exercise, but the my first time set up, I inflated the awning with a small 12v pump that I already had for inflating air beds. It cost around £10 and pumped in most of the air needed for the awning to stand up. However the pump is not able to increase the PSI to the recommended 8 - 11 PSI, which is where the hand pump was used. This video shows inflation with the Kampa Air Gale 12v pump which inflates the awning up to 9 PSI and stops. Although as shown I didn't follow the instructions and I used a push in nozzle instead of the one designed for the awning which screws on. So next time I will just sit and watch and let the pump do all the work.

The awning requires just 4m of the awning rail along the horizontal straight. Although when I bought the awning I still was not really sure if I had enough rail length which is why I have posted this video for anyone who is also unsure.

NB: The Kampa Exquisite Design cushioned carpet for the Frontier comes in two packs. Product code 111754 says it fits the Frontier AIR Pro but this pack only contains the two ends of the awning floor and not the central area. (Shown in this video, we were only sold 1 of 2 packs.) The second pack is product code 111734 described as Fits: Air Ace 400. Although I haven't opened the pack I was reassured that it does fit.

The Tampa Air Pro Frontier Awning for 2017 is very well made with many clever features making this awning easier to put up, live with and put away. We are really pleased with the Frontier.
