Hyundai 13 - Baseline Tuning & Blunders

Описание к видео Hyundai 13 - Baseline Tuning & Blunders

This video is a continuation of previous videos where we installed ECMlink, configured it for speed density airflow metering, and achieved a closed loop idle. Oh how I wish I could have simply changed some values in a few cells to make it road worthy but no… not Jafro. Things never work out that way for me for whatever reason.

No matter what company logo is on your bumper, if you work on your own car, then in order for you to be any good at what you do, you have to be able to own your mistakes. Only then can progress be made. I should have done a better job at inspecting the used parts that were bolted on. The radiator, the intercooler, the intercooler pipes, the 2 radiator caps, the silly electrical problems that were found… and how I half-assed my vacuum system so I could get it to an inspection station. You can bet I'll pay more attention in the future. At least now that's all fixed.

What I just described is not the frustration, but the challenge and the fun in doing all of this. Perfection doesn't happen overnight, and for this Hyundai I realize it's impossible, but the amount of stuff wrong with this thing are precisely the reason I'm having so much fun with it. Hopefully you're having fun, too.

In this video I iron out the remaining mechanical bugs, make some upgrades, fix some things that weren't broken, they were just stupid… and continue where we left off with the baseline tune from the previous video. Since tuning fuel is the same exact thing as tuning airflow, before you worry about either one of those, set your timing. I show you how right here in this video. This video is WAY better than my other timing video. I'm not even linking it here, it's that bad. I swear I want to delete that video someday.

If you need to build a boost leak tester so you can test the health of your car, I have videos for that, too… Some people use smoke for boost leak testing. It works. I prefer soapy water. Leave me alone. :P

How to use it:    • Boost Leak Testing 201: Using the tool.

^^SUBSCRIBE to that dude. ^^^ Seriously. ^^^ The last 3 scenes of this video wouldn't have been possible without him. The man's a tuning genius, and he's got a nasty fire-breating corn-fed 1g AWD talon project.

Achieving closed loop idle doesn't necessarily mean you have your global and deadtime settings correct. The process of dialing in your global and deadtime is a little different for me than most other people who use a more popular brand and size of injector. For people who use everything but a RC750 PL-4 injector, ECMtuning is the best place to start because they have a page with dozens of popular injectors' default settings already figured out and documented for your convenience: https://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/basein...

If you're new to ECMlink, another page you should visit is the Quickie A/F setup page. It includes instructions for tuning idle, cruise and WOT: https://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/quicki...

If you're having idle surge, poor idle, or just want to know more about the ISC motor, visit this page: https://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/idlesurge …and OH HEY! My ISC motor testing and replacement video is linked right off that page. Cool! Thanks Thomas! I guess I don't need to link it here… :) That page details the BISS/ISC procedure I do in this video, and my video shows how to test and replace the ISC motor without using ECMlink.

…by the way… if you're tuning airflow or fuel… a wideband o2 sensor REALLY helps. I've got a video for that, too.:    • Innovate LC2 Wideband o2 sensor insta...

…and another one about how to install ECMlink with a Speed Density configuration.:    • Hyundai Assembly 10 - ECMlink Install...

If you're subscribed, of course, you already know this. Thanks for everything you guys do here. Thank you for spending your time here with me on Jafromobile!
