Dana 300 Shift Rail Cap Removal and Replacement

Описание к видео Dana 300 Shift Rail Cap Removal and Replacement

The CJ5 project is moving along....literally as it is drivable now. But had a small hiccup. One of the shift rail caps on the transfer case was dripping gear oil. I had not replaced these when I rebuilt it because my kit didn't include them and they appeared to be in good shape. Well.. that was not the case. I found very little info on how to replace these. During a rebuild, when the case is empty, it would be very obvious how to but once together and installed was another story. Didn't know if they needed to be pressed out or pressed in, etc. Fortunately, it turns out to be a pretty simple job. I think for most the hardest part would be accessibility. If anything is in the way of getting to the caps. The process here applies to the Dana 20 transfer case as well. The caps are the same for both the Dana 300 and 20.
