Some combinations are really rare and we have to search and fail to get similar rare combination. The song "Thaaye Mookhambige" is one such song.

Director Sankar, popular for his devotional movies, preferred at least one long song sung by various popular artists. He started the trend in Varuvan Vadivelan with "Battu Malaithiru Muthukkumaranai" in which TMS, P.Suseela, L.R.Eswari, Seerkazhi Govindarajan, M.S.Viswanathan and Bengaluru Ramani Ammal had praised Lord Murugan.

The movies Navagraha Nayaki, Mupperum Deviyar also had such songs composed by M.S.Viswanathan.

Thaai Mookhambigai is different with music by Ilayaraja and he had chosen the very rare combination.

Balamuralikrishna aka BMK was a popular classical singer who was introduced in Film Music by M.S.Viswanathan aka MSV with the song "Thanga Ratham Vandhadhu" in the movie Kalaikoyil. K.V.Mahadevan used BMK in Thiruvilaiyadal. MSV also used BMK in telugu version of Karnan. Also in Noolveli for famous "Mounathil Vilaiyadum Manasatchiye". Ilayaraja used BMK in Kavikuyil for melo-mesmerizing "Chinna Kannan Azhaikkiraan". And then he had chosen BMK for this song.

The devotional album "Krishnaganam" composed by MSV and penned by Kaviyarasar Kannadan is still popular with no match. Not even the Krishnaganam-2 by MSV. After the tragic demise of Kannadasan, MSV came up Krishnaganam-2 with other lyricists. And he was happy to invite Ilayaraja to sing the song "Nadi vandha Selvam". Ilayaraja also sang in Sugamana Ragangal for MSV. And IR used MSV's voice first time in Thai Mookhambigai. Then followed Namma Ooru Nalla Ooru and all. I am sure MSV is the only composer who had sung in almost all other MD's music.... even in Madarasa Pattanam for G.V.Prakashkumar.

Seerkazhi Govindrarajan needs no introduction with his infamous Murugan songs. His first song with Ilayaraja was for Badrakali (Odugiral) and then this is song.

Malaysia Vasudevan and S.Janaki were perferred singers for Ilayaraja and they join the above mentioned legends.

Please listen to this song and enjoy the unity in diversity. :) I mean the voices, styles and rendition. :)
