The Great British Fish and Chips. An iconic British meal enjoyed by many at the seaside. In every place we lived there was a fish and chip shop just down the road and in my School growing up and then when I was a teacher there was also Fish Friday for lunch in the school canteen. But what makes it so special? What makes a good fish and chips? What sides are the best?

Here in Singapore you can go to many hawker stalls, order a chicken rice set and know exactly what you are getting, more or less. It’s the same in the UK - you’ll know what you’re getting when you place your order. WIth the odd variation in the recipes the fish and chips are pretty much the same. BUT what makes a good one? And can I find one here in Singapore?

I team up with some other brits living here in Singapore and we go and taste some of the best, according to google, and see what we think. Come along with us as we try and find a good, honest British style fish and chips!
