Build your own Locost Sports Car

Описание к видео Build your own Locost Sports Car

What is a Locost?
. Is it a Lotus 7?
. Is it similar to a Caterham 7?
. Is it a Knock Off Replica, an Homage or is it Something Completely Different?
The truth is that a Locost is an Automotive Movement and not a Marque!
Ron Champion wrote what is known as "The Book" (Build Your Own Sports Car For As Little As £250 - And Race It) in 1996.
His book contained detailed plans and instructions so that home builders could go ahead and build their own sports car using salvage parts.
But is a Locost a 7?
The original Lotus 7s (1957) were marketed as kit cars (to keep costs down) and Chapman's “reverse order instruction manual” was specifically designed to negate the British automotive tax system of the day.
In other words, Colin Chapman’s disassembly instructions needed to be followed in reverse order to become an assembly guide for the (Lotus 7) kit car.
There are (and always will be) guys working on cars so the idea building a car (not assembling a kit car) has an appeal and, needless to say, Ron Champion's idea really caught on.
Ron’s original book has been reprinted several times (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999) and a second edition followed (expanded and reformatted) in 2000 (reprinted in 2001, 2002 and 2004).
Ron Champion's car building ideas have been shared broadly and his work has spawned a worldwide following.
So, is it a Lotus 7? ... No, Caterham owns the engineering rights to Lotus Seven.
Is a Locost a 7 style car? ... Absolutely!
There are now many Websites/Forums dedicated exclusively to building a Locost Sports Cars of every possible description and there are Locost Clubs, Facebook Groups and Builders literally everywhere.
Is a Locost a Replica, Homage or Tribute Car, ... probably, but the truth is that these little cars are much more than that.
They are proof of the satisfaction one feels of building something with your own hands.
Nothing else really matters!

Do you have what it takes to build a Locost?
... Are you curious about which plans might be best for you?
... Have you been thinking about building a 7 but want to hear how it went for other builders?
You have come to the right place. … It is all right here!
7Spot has been doing worldwide Livestream interviews with Locost 7 builders for years now and that's exactly why we decided to create a Series of Exclusive Webinars for people who want to build a “7”.
In this presentation we will feature 4 builders.
Two of the presenters (Randy Webb and Al G.) have already finished their projects and will offer helpful advice about how to make your 7 build a success.
Our other 2 presenters (Steve Dunbar and Dave Lassell) are still in the shed, building their dream cars.
Steve is closing in on the finish line and Dave is closer to the beginning than the end of his build journey.
All our presenters are normal guys, just like you and me.
We all come from different backgrounds and have different skillsets.
This edited video was part of a live Webinar created specifically for Locost builders.
Hopefully, you will find some advice here which will help keep you focussed, show you some “how it’s done points” and inspire you to keep moving toward that light at the end of the tunnel.
Cheers!
