The Happy Chappies consisted of two men who had more talent as composers of songs than as performers.

A photo of the team of Fred Howard and Nat Vincent appears on some covers of sheet music, and the two men made a few records as The Happy Chappies.

Fred Howard and Nat Vincent worked as a team in vaudeville and recording studios around 1924.

Vincent also worked in show business with Blanche Franklyn, his wife. On August 27, 1920, Nat Vincent and Blanche were married in Atlantic City, New Jersey, at Saint James Episcopal Church. By the end of the Roaring '20s, they were divorced.

Vincent had a total of three wives over his long life.

The vaudeville duo of Franklyn and Vincent toured on the Keith-Albee circuit in the mid-1920s.

Fred Howard and Nat Vincent are remembered today for writing hits like "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" and "The Bloom Is on the Sage."

Nathaniel Vincent also had a hand in "Pucker Up and Whistle," "That Railroad Rag," and other hits.

My favorite Vincent song is "When The Lusitiana Went Down."

He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1889. His full name was Nathaniel David Vincent.

His father was a railroad clerk named Nathaniel H. Vincent. His mother was Madeline "Mattie" Morgan.

Vincent died in 1979.
