Attempting to Skimboard Secret Beach

While traveling through Europe this summer we chased a swell to the South of Portugal when the waves went flat everywhere else. Accompanied by professional skimbaorders Jon Howell, Miguel Braz, and Ernesto Molina we managed to find some super fun waves and in places we didn't expect it. The highlight of the trip was a wave in Lagos that the locals rarely check because of how fickle it can be. Usually it is a rocky cove that is very difficult to skim, but this time was a little different. While it was still very challenging to pick the right wave, we lucked out with a sandy beach that had a wave breaking under a beautifully constructed arch built by the roman empire. Growing up in South Laguna it reminded me a lot of the stunningly beautiful little coves that miraculously have some waves to skimboard on the right day.
