White Cane Awareness Day

Описание к видео White Cane Awareness Day

The white cane is a tool that blind people use to explore and navigate our environment. The white cane is a symbol of our independence. We use our senses of hearing and touch to explore and understand the world around us. The white cane allows us to "touch" our environment as we walk through it. In this video, we demonstrate some of the ways we use our canes to gather information about the world around us.

In this video, we first see Kimie walking around a shopping center. We then cut to Gabe walking along the Light Rail platform. Next, Karen walks down a neighborhood sidewalk before crossing the street. President Riccobono then speaks with his children while sitting on a park bench. We then see a montage of video clips and photos of people walking with canes: President Riccobono and his children, a mother and toddler daughter, a group of runners at a race starting line, a mother and her pre-teen daughter, a mother and young girl who is wearing sleep shades, two teenage girls, and a family.
