The 2025 Honda CRV cargo area floor is not flat and instead has a hump, bump, or lump when the rear seats are folded down. This makes it difficult to put a foam mattress on the cargo area floor, and thus more difficult to use as a CRV or SUV camper.

When the back hatch is opened, and the rear seats are folded down, you can see right away that there’s a hump or lump in the floor when the back seats are folded down. It is believed that the cargo area floor cannot be made flat with the folded down back seats like the older model CRVs. But this generation CR-V is believed to have more cargo capacity or cargo volume than any other previous CRV. It’s disappointing the cargo area floor has a hump in the floor, but at least the hump is smooth and sort of rounded, which might make it easier to work with.
Having a flat floor is a really great feature for CRV camping and CRV campers because it makes it easy for the placement of a foam mattress or air mattress in your car. You don’t need to build a platform or use any extra padding, which means you can easily convert the vehicle between use as an SUV camper or use as a normal vehicle that uses the back seat normally for passengers. Thus, SUVs and CRVs having a flat floor are good for SUV camping and make good SUV and CRV campers.
