Mark O'Connor and Chet Atkins - "Pickin' in the Wind"

Chet Atkins and Mark O'Connor play a guitar duet "PIckin' in the Wind", composed by Mark O'Connor when he was 13 years old, on a 1983 "Nashville Now" show.

"This was the national T.V. show that Chet got me on, to introduce me to Nashville and country music so I could break into the scene. But the host Ralph Emery did not mention my name here in the introduction - and we were playing my tune! This is why it usually takes so many shots to make it in music, because it's hard to get any recognition, even when its your debut on TNN. But, Chet gave me a big boost here, putting me on with him, and playing my tune with me, "Pickin' In The Wind". What a great man he was, seeing so much promise in a young player like I was at 22. He soon became a real mentor to me after this show. Sure miss him. This tune fits the Chet Atkins style really nicely I thought!" -Mark O'Connor
