Presented by: Anne Wiederhold-Daryanavard, Project Coordinator, Brunnenpassage | Vienna, Austria

QUESTIONS ADDRESSED
How can cities develop artistic practices that can be of interest to as broad a section of their diverse population as possible? How can participatory/co-creative/ transcultural art production influence the dominant established cultural institutions?

PLACE FOR CO-PRODUCING ART
Brunnenpassage, strategically located at a highly frequented market area, operates as a laboratory and space for transcultural art. The art productions–ranging from theatre and dance to music events, exhibitions and film– are co-created by professional artists and amateurs from diverse backgrounds.

WIDER OUTREACH
Brunnenpassage has attracted 25,000–27,000 visitors every year, most of them active participants. In order to demonstrate possibilities for societal transformation, it shares its participatory methodologies with cultural players, grassroots and established institutions– especially with policymakers.
