In Association Croquet the Jump Shot is primarily used as a last resort...to get out of some sort of trouble. For example, if the angle to the hoop is excessively wide.
It should be practised off the lawn to avoid lawn damage too.
As with any angled hoop the near upright (wire) should not be hit first.
