1994 C4 Corvette Roof Weather Stripping Part 2

Corvette nightmare update - This will be a quick job.... Right? Yeah... No...

Today we are installing the new weather stripping on the Targa top.

(Did I mention this has turned into an absolute fiasco of a tedious process?!?)

The windshield is done, the B pillar is done - both were tame in comparison to the removable Targa top! Two little strips about 24 inches long are literally kicking my butt... Someone who shall remain nameless, (Because otherwise I would track them down - see above) used WAY too much glue! I've been working on it since yesterday and am not even halfway through!

If you are familiar with the sticky black stuff they use to permanently install your windshield - this is basically the same stuff. Once it is on - it's ON! Removing it takes more than an act of congress... A hell of a lot of elbow grease, chemical solvents and an unknowable amount of sweat in a 100 degree barn in front of a 4 ft. diameter fan set on HIGH...

But I can't stop now... I am in too deep! This 1994 vintage rubber is beyond dead, crumbling into pieces and held on by glue that someone applied much too liberally. I'll be at this a while.

The Vette has been in the barn for weeks now, and I haven't so much as gotten to drive it to the local ice cream joint. Sure it went to the garage for some work and Discount Tire for some new tires. But without weather stripping I can't even give it a good wash! I want to enjoy our new toy! So far, all I have done is work on the damn thing so I can go out and drive it...

It's getting there... Just a few more line items on the "fix-it" list to go. Hopefully, they will go a lot faster than this little nightmare! LOL
