Hey players, DJay here with a new shmup longplay on an arcade shooter, G-Darius.

Description of the game:

G-Darius is a horizontal scrolling bulletstorm shmup by Taito Corporation released in arcades in June 1997, running on the Taito FX-1B hardware and making it the first and only Darius game to feature 3D polygonal graphics and a branching pathway system in the middle of each stage. It is the last game to run on the Taito FX-1A/B system hardware. An updated version, Ver.2 was released in 1999 with additional features. A home port for the PlayStation was released in 1998, on Windows in 2001 included in compilations such as Taito Legends 2 in 2006 alongside Darius Gaiden and in Darius Cozmic Collection in 2022. An HD port on PS4/5 and Nintendo Switch was made available in 2021.

Set a thousand years before the events of the original Darius, there existed a planet named Amnelia, which was named after a man by the citizens living there due to the "power" he had to end the conflict saving life from extinction. Suddenly, a cyborg/chimera biovessels known as Thiima (deliverer of death"), had been aroused by Amnelia's A.N. weapon (All-Nothing) to annihilate the world Blazer, which Amnelia set their sights to end the war with over jurisdiction over the moon Mahsah. Seeing this as a threat, the Thiima forces raid Amnelia. To counter this, Amnelia reverse -engineered Thiiman technology/life systems to create the Silver Hawk space fighters. Two pilots were chosen to fly the Silver Hawks, Sameluck Raida (P1) and Lutia Feen (P2), beginning a decisive attack at the enemy base, Kazumn, a satellite orbiting Planet Darius. The war between humans and the cyborg race, will determine the fate of Planet Darius.

Playing similarly to the previous installments, the game reintroduces the capture mechanic from Darius Gaiden, although functioning differently with a capture ball. The capture ball can be used on different types of enemies, including captains, to assist the player, but usage is limited as they can be destroyed through sufficient damage. Pressing the capture ball button triggers a bomb that destroys enemies within the explosion radius. Another new feature is the Alpha Beam, working in similar mannerisms to Metal Black. The beam can be used only if an enemy is still in captivity and can largen when countered with a Beta Beam during boss battles. Throughout the game, the player's performance is determined by their actions. Several factors influence the player's technical rank.
Enemy hit ratio: The more enemies destroyed in each stage, both singular and in groups, the better.
VS Boss Shot Hit: Amount of shots fired while avoiding shooting whenever the boss cannot be hit.
Cap. Survive: Influenced by number of enemies captured used as bombs or Alpha Beams without being destroyed.
Power-up got: Amount of power-ups collected in each stage.
Reached: Player's progress throughout the game.
VS Boss Final Blow: Determined by how the player destroyed the boss. Running down the timer completely earns the least amount, while a Fourfold Counter Alpha Beam achieves the most.
Miss: Amount of deaths.
Continue: How many continues were used throughout.
