RULER is a social and emotional learning (SEL) framework designed to help teachers and students recognize, understand, label, express, and regulate their emotions. Developed by the Yale University Center for Emotional Intelligence, it aims to improve emotional skills to foster better relationships, decision-making, and overall well-being. By teaching these core emotional competencies, RULER supports healthier environments for our earlychildhood students and educators, from Pre-Kindergarten and up. RULER stands for the five skills of emotional intelligence: Recognizing emotions Understanding emotions Labeling emotions Expressing emotions Regulating emotions
