English Teacher ASMR Roleplay

I kind of feel like this is the only ASMR roleplay I’ve ever actually been qualified to make; I have a background in education and a degree in English literature (specifically Romantic poetry). And yet, I still didn’t know what I was talking about. Huh.

I don’t know if they still do key stage 3, poetry anthologies, or even GCSEs anymore, but here’s a decidedly 90s English lesson roleplay with a charmless, if not enthusiastic, comprehensive schoolteacher. All it’s missing is having a smoke behind the leisure centre. Oh, and fun note for US viewers: in the UK, public schools are private schools and, what you would consider to be public schools are called comprehensives. Unnecessarily confusing eh? Welcom to Engerluhnd guv’na is it next chewsday lahst week all hither? NB – I went to a comprehensive school, hence by terrible diction, ignorance of the classics, and why I’m not a Member of Parliament.

So, get ready for a VERY shallow, state-funded deep-dive into William Blake’s seminal work ‘The Tyger’, and prepare your brain for potentially more opinion than fact as you go over the poem line-by-line, stanza after stanza for almost an HOUR, with your teacher trying his very best to seem like he knows what he’s talking about. 🎙 What is ASMR? 🎧

ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) is synaesthesia of the soul. It’s a relaxing feeling, it’s a tingling down the spine, or it’s simply a sleep aid. Whether it’s being ‘held’ by someone you have confidence in, or ‘looked after’ by someone with authority, or just feeling ‘safe’ with someone you trust, it uses audio-visual triggers to enable you to let go of your worries and stresses – even just for a bit.

📽 What is FPC? 🎞

FPC (first person cinema) takes all the relaxing elements of ASMR but has much more of a focus on immersion and the suspension of disbelief. It’s kinda like being the main character in your own short movie, with popular figures you know and love, or entirely created worlds – just for you. There won’t be any visible mics or traditional triggers in these videos, and they will seem more unintentional than the usual ASMR videos – but they are unique and relaxing experiences designed to transport you to different places, worlds, and times.
