There is no better way to see the Scottish Highlands in winter. Sit back and gaze out of the train window at the ever changing vista, as we leave Edinburgh’s Waverley station, cross the magnificent Forth Bridge and climb through the snow covered Highlands to Aviemore, where we take a quick look at the Strathspey and Cairngorm railways. Our journey continues in glorious sunshine, the mountains sporting a coat of winter snow look stunning under a perfect blue sky, this is Scotland at its best. Descending down to sea level, we pass over the towering Colloden viaduct to our destination, Inverness.
