THE DOCTRINE OF CAVEAT EMPTOR:
The Doctrine of Caveat Emptor is a latin maxim which means "Let the buyer's be aware"
If a person relying upon his own skills and judgement, buys certain commodity and afterwards if he realize that goods are not according to his purpose or has certain defects in it than he can not blame anyone else except himself. He can neither sue the seller for price nor he can sue the seller for damages.
In other words If the buyer makes a wrong choice or make wrong selection of quality he cannot blame the seller and recover damages from him if the goods turn out to be defective or do not suit his purpose.
Example : Flea market

Exceptions:
1) When the buyer relies upon skills & judgement of seller.
2) When goods are not according to sample
3) When goods are not according to discription
4) When goods are sold under brand name, patent name or trade name
5) When goods are of merchantable quality
