Iznájar Dam
The Iznájar Dam was built on the Geníl River and the works were completed in 1969.

The Iznájar Reservoir is located in the bed of the Geníl River, in the municipalities of Iznájar, Rute, Loja, Zagra, Cuevas de San Marcos and Algarinejo. It covers land in the provinces of Granada, Málaga and Córdoba.

This reservoir belongs to the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation (Granada Region) and was inaugurated in 1969.

The creation of this marsh caused the flooding of approximately 600 houses and the displacement of approximately 2,000 people. An area of ​​2,857 hectares was expropriated.

The surface area of ​​the basin is 5,000 km2 and the annual average rainfall is 583.7 mm. and an average annual contribution: 600 Hm3.
