OBI-WAN KENOBI Ep6: Every STAR WARS Easter Egg and Hidden Reference

The episode was filled with easter eggs, a swalways, but also filled with heart. Even though we know how this story plays out, it was still this heartbreaking, sad story where you just feel bad for all the people involved. Especially leia, her son grow sup to be a mass murderer. [MORE]

But, let’s get into the easter eggs, shall we? First a couple items I missed last week. ONe, the holo transmitter that Obi Wan carries and that Reva finds is the same one that Qui-Gon has in the phantom menace. Foreshadowing his eventual return.

Also,a few of you pointed out that the Grand Inquisitor is a Pa’aun, and that his species has 2 stomachs. So when Reva got him in the belly, it was never a lethal blow–just an expensive lap band surgery that explains why he l;ooked so lean in Star Wars rebels.

We open on Tatooine with some Jawas, a droid that might be R4 from a new hope [clip, blowing up], and a brand new species in star wars, the space redneck [clip].

Reva is looking for Owen, because she has decided to take revenge on Obi wan by killing a youngling he protected. After all, her friends don't get to live, so should this random kid? We threw out a lot of theories about why she;s after luke–did she want to train him, did she figure out he was Anakin's kid–and it turns out she literally just wanted to kill something to hurt someone. She couldn;t get to Vader, so she settled for Obi-wan.

I still don;t understand why Vader let her live, but whatever, it was the Force.

Then back to the chase outside Jabiim, where composer Natalie holt repurposed John williams chase scene score from empire strikes back [clips]

There are a few alien species in the transport. [3:38] In the back here we have a quarren, left is a Tarsunt, and right is a red nikto. Thanks Adam Lance Garcia for helping me out with that one.

They’re trying to make for planet Tessen, which–by the way–is a Japanese war fan. That is all.

Roken says [motivator is shot]. Which, yeah mad, you gotta maintain those motivators [R4 exploding]. Space redneck could’a told you that.“Well hell's fire boys I tell you what, this here shuttle’s got a jacked up motivator. “

I did like that Leia was spending her time on the shuttle calming down other people, not crying in fear. Showing that she is a natural born leader.

And then, back to Tatooine where Owen and Luke are shopping in town. No wonder Luke wanted to go to tosche station so badly, this is literally the most exciting thing that happens to him all day. And if these eccies running the shop look familiar, it's because this is your mom.

One thing I loved about this series is that we really get to see the evolution of Owen Lars. he’s still kind of a happy go lucky guy on attack of the clones. But in this series Joel Edgertin has morphed him into this grizzled farmer who cares for Luke, but he’s always disappointed in him. I;ve said for years that Owen was one of the most important characters in Star Wars, because he raised a Jedi. Glad we get to see a little bit of the character that explains why he is so stern with Luke in a new hope.

Then back to the Lars homestead, and hey–you ever notice that no one on tatooine is ever sweaty?

Anyways, back on the ship, Ben is trying to speak to qui gon, like he did on the first episode [clip]. You’ll remember that Revenge of the Sith ended with Yoda teaching Obi Wan how to commune with the spirit of his dead master.

I’m going to talk about Qui Gon force ghost and why Ben couldn't see him before at the end of the video.
