Inside India’s Armored Future: T-54B to FRCV Transformation

The T-54B, a Soviet-era main battle tank, was produced between 1957 and 1958 and is recognized for its two-plane stabilization system and D-10T2S 100mm rifled gun. While India doesn't currently operate the T-54B, it inherited a significant number of T-54 and T-55 tanks post-independence, which have been integral to its armored forces. In recent years, India has focused on modernizing its armored capabilities. The Future Ready Combat Vehicle (FRCV) program, initiated in 2015, aims to replace the aging T-72 fleet with 1,770 advanced main battle tanks. These FRCVs are expected to incorporate artificial intelligence, drone integration, and active protection systems, ensuring superior mobility, firepower, and survivability.
