Watch the Bay of Fundy tide rising in the Upper Salmon River at Alma, New Brunswick, Canada. Approximately 3 hours & 40 minutes compressed into 1 minute.


This view is seen from the bridge (on route 114) spanning the Upper Salmon River between Alma and Fundy National Park. The park is on the left side of the river and to my right, just outside of this view is the main street of Alma. As the tide rises, water from the Bay of Fundy floods back up the river about 1 km. and the river estuary changes from fresh to salt water. The full tide, from low to high, takes 6 hours & 13 minutes but the tide doesn't reach this part of the river until the tide has already been rising for a couple of hours. This time-lapse sequence was shot September 22, 2009 as regular video and then sped up about 25,000%.
