Driving in Germany and Austria: Autobahn A8 & A1 E52, E60 & E641 from Rosenheim to Salzburg

In this video you can drive along on Autobahn A8 & A1 [E52, E60] from Rosenheim in Germany to Salzburg in Austria - with a quick stop in Traunstein via Bundesstraße B306 in-between.

This is the last part of Autobahn A8 before the Austrian border and the only missing part of A8 on the channel. From now you can watch the entire Autobahn A8 from Luxembourg in the West to the border with Austria in the Southeast on this channel.

You can see from the design standard that parts of the A8 were upgraded from a Bundesstraße / expressway in the past since the shoulder is missing. Although on the surface it seems like there would be space for a shoulder, I guess it's been difficult to acquire the needed land from surrounding farmers / residents. This Autobahn gets especially crowded in the holiday season.

Traunstein is a nice little city not too far from the border with Austria. I just went there to get gas before crossing the border ;-)
