Condensed Matter Physics - Superconductivity : DC Josephson Effect

Описание к видео Condensed Matter Physics - Superconductivity : DC Josephson Effect

DC Josephson effect has been discussed. In a Josephson junction two pieces of superconducting material are separated by a thin insulating oxide layer. The Cooper pairs can tunnel through the insulator giving a current from one superconductor into the other. Such such a junction is called weak link. The junction permits the flow of dc current without any loss of energy even if the voltage across it is zero. This phenomenon is called DC Josephson Effect. This phenomenon has been explained quantum mechanically taking the Schrodinger’s time dependent equation under account.
