A documentary about 1960s stereo copies of the second UK LP from British rock band The Beatles, entitled ‘With The Beatles’, featuring John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The album was produced by George Martin (who also played piano on the record) at Abbey Road studios in London, between July and October 1963. It was released on the EMI Parlophone label on 22nd November that year, following their debut LP Please Please Me, released just eight months earlier. It contains seven original songs by Lennon and McCartney, such as All My Loving, It Won’t Be Long and I Wanna Be Your Man. All My Loving was released as the title track of their fourth British extended play record in February 1964, reaching number one in the UK EP charts, where it stayed for 8 weeks. Famously, it was also The Beatles’ opening number at their debut performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, on the 9th February 1964. During the ‘With The Beatles’ sessions the band also recorded their UK No 1 singles She Loves You backed with I’ll Get You, and I Want To Hold Your Hand b/w This Boy, released in Britain in late August 1963 and October ‘63. She Loves You became the best-selling British single of the 1960s. In America, those two singles were issued on Swan Records and Capitol respectively, the latter b/w I Saw Her Standing There; both reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1964, and were performed on The Ed Sullivan Show in February. The album closes with a frantic version of the song Money (That’s What I Want), which had been the first ever hit for the Tamla Motown label in 1959 (The Beatles had performed Money at their infamous Decca audition with Pete best on drums). The first stereo pressing on EMI Parlophone Records features an erroneous credit and a misprinting on the label, and the misprint also appears on the early sleeves. The price guide value, as usual, is provided at the end. I hope you enjoy the video!
