He was not just a warrior but also a Bhasha Pandit, an intellectual who authored Sanskrit texts. However, Chhaava Movie barely scratched the surface of his scholarly achievements.

🔹 The Maratha-Mughal War: An Economic & Military Masterstroke: For 8 years, the Maratha Army under Sambhaji Maharaj fought against Aurangzeb, eliminating nearly 8 lakh Mughal soldiers and draining his treasury. The film highlights guerrilla warfare but misses this grand strategic picture.

🔹 Aurangzeb’s Reality – His Fear of the Marathas: Aurangzeb was so terrified of the Maratha Army that he kept shifting his tents frequently. He even hid among women’s tents, knowing the Marathas would never attack there. This crucial psychological warfare is absent in the Chhaava Movie.

🔹 Battles Beyond the Mughals – Fighting the Portuguese & Siddhis: Sambhaji Maharaj fought not just the Mughals but also the Portuguese and Siddhis. His resistance to forced conversions in Goa and his naval campaigns in Janjira were pivotal moments in history that the movie largely ignored.

🔹 The Heartbreaking Reality of His Martyrdom: The torture of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is one of the most horrifying events in history. He was captured, brutally tortured for 40 days, and ultimately executed for refusing to bow before Aurangzeb. The film depicts this, but some critical details were omitted, making the narrative less impactful than reality.
