Y’all we finally have a real MOPAR on the channel and I’m stoked! Dad’s a Mopar guy, first car was a 1956 Plymouth Savoy 2 door hardtop. Then I’m High school he bought new a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere Satellite 2 door hardtop with a 383 ci big block and an automatic. He’s also had a 1971 Plymouth Duster 340 ci automatic. So needless to say he’s a Mopar guy! Same reason we are putting a hemi in his Studebaker.

We’ve always liked these little fastback Plymouth Barracudas. And I had the pleasure of meeting a gentleman about 10 years ago that has an amazing collection of them and since then I’ve always wanted one. When this 1966 Barracuda Fastback popped up on marketplace a couple hours from the house I kept an eye on it. The price seemed to go to be true. And the guys claims that it was super solid and almost rust free seemed a stretch since it hadn’t sold. What makes this car even cooler is that it’s a factory V8 4 speed. So off to Pensacola, Florida I went.

The car is a 1966 273 ci 2-barrel carburetor 4 speed and it had a 7 1/4” rear end. The trim level was premium and from what I can tell it was Beige or soft yellow. I’m not sure but I’m leaning towards beige.

We are gonna clean the car up and get it assembled as complete as we can to get a better idea of what we are missing and figure out a plan for it.

My hearts set on a left for dead Super stock drag car that was put up in a barn for years and brought back to life. Only time will tell what we come up with. But Definitely gonna go back small block and 4 speed and hopefully a 8 3/4 with a posi.

Turns out we are gonna go modern small block in "The Heart Breaker". I picked up a 360ci magnum roller motor to build. But that wasnt what my heart really wanted and when I ran across a good deal on a eagle headed gen 3 5.7 hemi I knew what i needed to do. So I jumped in Trusty Rusty the 7.3 F250 work truck and took off! This motor was a reman that came from LKQ and after 70k miles in a 2010 Ram it wiped a cam bearing. The guy had the motor rebuilt and added a ‪@TexasSpeedPerformance‬ Stage 2 cam with all the goodies and supporting parts. But unfortunately, the motor used an excessive amount of oil from first start. So he bought a brand new crate motor and swapped them out. We got the motor at a good price and fingers crossed it will be a simple fix and easy rebuild. Im thinking its a piston ring issue. I plan to run it fuel injected on a ‪@HolleyPerformance‬ Terminator X. Which hopefully is just as user friendly as the one in Double Trouble our Chevy II Gasser. I also was able to pick up a 73 duster front disk brake conversion, a B-body 8 3/4 axle housing and a 742 case 3.23 suregrip 3rd member. Now all that is missing is a 4 speed set up for the big parts.
