Pt. M. Venkatesh Kumar is an Indian classical vocalist, born in Lakshmipura in the Dharwad region of northern Karnataka. He is renowned for his husk, vibrant classical singing style, he is also popular in singing Dasara Padas & Devotional songs. He learnt Hindustani vocal in the Gwalior and Kirana Gharana styles under the Veerashaiva saint and Hindustani Classical musician, Puttaraj Gawai. He blends these styles effortlessly in his presentations, though he admits to influences beyond these gharanas.

Raag
---------
Raag Jaijaiwanti is a raag of Khamaj thaat, it is considered to be a creation of the divine mind of the tenth Sikh Guru - Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. According to the Guru Granth Sahib, this Raag is a mixture of two other raags – Bilaval and Sorath. This Raag has not been mentioned in any ancient Indian classical scriptures on music. It is also not mentioned in the raagmalas at the end of Granth Sahib. Although it is a very sweet and touching Raag that has a very wide public appeal, it is a very complex raag.
Raag Jaijaiwanti is performed during the first prahar of the night – from six to nine in the evening.

This baithak was held at the initiative of Ved Gupta as a part of bazm e Khas foundation live concerts.

The idea behind this upload is to preserve this collection of great music for all music lovers and students of Hindustani music. We treat this upload as a cover version.
