DIY Baby Tie Knot Shirt With Layered Skirt Cutting and Stitching | Very Easy Baby Shirt With Skirt

“Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel! Today, I’m going to show you how to make a super cute and easy DIY baby tie knot shirt with a layered skirt. This is a perfect outfit for your little one, and it’s really simple to put together. So, let’s get started!”

Materials Needed

1. Fabric: Cotton or any soft fabric of your choice
2. Scissors
3. Measuring tape
4. Sewing machine
5. Pins
6. Elastic band
7. Thread matching your fabric
8. Fabric marker or chalk

Step 1: Cutting the Fabric

Shirt

1. Measurements: Measure your baby’s chest, waist, and the desired length of the shirt.
2. Front and Back Pieces: Cut two rectangles based on the chest measurement plus 2 inches for seam allowance and the desired length plus 1 inch.
3. Shoulder Straps: Cut two long strips, each about 2 inches wide and 12 inches long for the tie knots.

Skirt

1. Measurements: Measure the waist and the desired length of the skirt.
2. Layers: Cut three rectangles. Each rectangle should be 1.5 times the waist measurement in width for a gathered effect, and the lengths should be the desired length of each layer.

Step 2: Sewing the Shirt

1. Sew the Side Seams: Place the front and back pieces right sides together and sew the side seams.
2. Hem the Bottom: Fold the bottom edge twice and sew to create a clean hem.
3. Attach Shoulder Straps: Fold the strap pieces in half lengthwise, sew the long edge, turn them inside out, and attach them to the top corners of the shirt. Knot the straps for an adjustable fit.

Step 3: Sewing the Skirt

1. Gathering the Layers: For each layer, sew a basting stitch along the top edge and gently pull the thread to gather the fabric.
2. Attach the Layers: Start with the bottom layer. Pin it to the middle layer, right sides together, and sew. Then, pin the top layer to the middle layer and sew.
3. Sew the Side Seam: Fold the entire skirt in half, right sides together, and sew the side seam.

Step 4: Final Touches

1. Attach Shirt and Skirt: Sew the shirt and skirt together at the waist.
2. Finishing: Make sure all seams are secure and trim any excess threads.
