How To Get The BEST Skintone Exposure Sony Fx3 Using Monitor Plus App

Also a note when using false color:
Sometimes the colors are different per camera but just remember to stay between 50-70 IRE and gauge using the colors where you should be!

The best workflow is not having to fix it all in post but instead get the right exposure during production. A lot of people ask me how I get good exposure or how do I color grade dark skin tones and I talk about the color grading aspect a lot but I haven't talked much about what I do to get great exposure on set.

This tool is by far IN MY OPINION is the most accurate tool to me especially if you're a solo filmmaker and don't have a gaffer or anything like that or if you don't have a light meter and need to get your exposure quickly. Yes you can fix it in post but again why not get it right so it's less fixing later? I know this concept is more technical but honestly this is the easiest way to explain how to use false color so if I don't use the fancy word and big words it's because this is how I UNDERSTAND IT.

I love using False Color and this is basically my secret for all those that ask. It's the best way to focus on getting accurate skin tone in your image. So if you ever wanted to perfect skin tones here's a great tool to use!

Also, check out the app I'm using. It's a pretty cool app for the fx3. It allows you to remotely control your Sony camera and it gives you monitoring tools like adding LUTS, False Color, Guides, etc.
