Frequent urination in pregnancy is very common because when you conceive and in the earlier part of pregnancy this also could be one of the symptoms to tell that you are pregnant. That’s only because the uterus becomes a little bulkier and behind the bladder is the uterus so it can cause a little irritation to the bladder and you could be having a little increased frequency. But if it persists and continues it is very important that you do a urine routine and urine culture to identify if there is any infection and treating it is very important. Persistent urinary infection can lead into prematurity and it can also lead to infections, sepsis once the baby comes out. So watch out, it’s better to report to your doctor. Meet them and tell them about your symptoms. If you are waking up more that 1-2 times in the night it’s definitely an indication. Watch out if you have burning sensation and if you have pain at the beginning during or at the end of micturition, all these symptoms need to be reported to the doctor. Best way to prevent urine infection is to drink lots of water. Minimum 3-4 liters of water. Keep yourself well hydrated. Also maintaining vaginal hygiene is important and this is also related to urinary infection.
