What if the Byzantine Empire never fell?

The Byzantine Empire, also referred to as the Eastern Roman Empire, persisted as the Roman Empire's eastern continuation following the fall of the Western Roman Empire to barbarian invasions. However, its long-standing legacy met its culmination in 1453 when the Ottoman Empire conquered Constantinople, marking the definitive end of the ancient Roman Empire after a span of two millennia.
